Greetings Backers!

It's time to redeem Vertices, one of your rewards for backing the Numenera: Liminal Shores Kickstarter!

The following rewards are available to redeem now:

  • Vertices in print
  • Vertices in PDF

If you get one or both of these rewards, please head over to the MCG Shop to redeem them!

Our US warehouse has received Vertices and they are standing by to fill your redemption orders. Our UK/EU and AU/NZ fulfillment houses will receive Vertices next week and will start shipping redemption orders soon after that.

How Do I Redeem Rewards?

To redeem your rewards, please go to the MCG Shop and log in to your account. From the account page, click Coupons (in the left hand menu) and you will see all of your available redemption coupons (you won't see coupons for any rewards that are still in production).

Click on a coupon to redeem it, or click on the Add All Product Coupons to Cart to redeem all of your coupons.

Clicking on a coupon adds the product and discount to your cart. Once you've added all the coupons you wish to redeem, click on the cart symbol to get to the checkout page to complete your redemption.

Please be advised that your rewards may vary from those listed above depending upon your backer level. If you believe you are missing a due reward, please contact us at Customer Support.

Do Coupons Expire?

We guarantee a Kickstarter reward will be available for you to redeem for up to a year beyond its release date, which means your coupons will expire in one year.

Delivery of Rewards

If you've added any PDFs to your cart, they are available immediately upon checkout.

For print products: Domestic USPS shipping is a flat rate of $7, but you may choose to upgrade to a different service if you wish. International shipping is charged using current shipping rates.

Due to precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, our US warehouse is operating with a small staff, so order processing might take slightly longer than normal. Our international warehouses are also operating with smaller staffs and increased processing time due to the global pandemic.

How Do I Get Help With a Reward or Order?

If you have any difficulty with the reward redemption process, or questions about your rewards, please email [email protected] or use the MCG Contact Us page. We respond to messages Monday - Friday from 8 AM - 4 PM ET, except for holidays. We are a small team and your patience when contacting us is greatly appreciated.

Vertices Is Coming—but Wait, There’s More!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Apr 04, 2021 at 07:27:28 PM

Vertices, the next book up for this campaign, has completed design and editing and will shortly go into layout. This is a whole book of new places to explore and adventures to experience, all reached through or connected to the datasphere.

Vertices will be out this summer, but if you’re hankering for more Ninth World adventures, we have another site of interest: the Grave of the Machines. This massive prior world site is detailed in Where the Machines Wait, which is on press now and will be out in May. Where the Machines Wait is part of our Arcana of the Ancients line of products for 5e, but it includes detailed conversion notes for using it in your Numenera campaign—or any Cypher System game.

In the meantime, beware of the Darkest House—the House that Hungers. It knows no bounds and has even found a way to creep into the Ninth World . . .

That house on the outskirts of the village, sitting empty behind a crumbling wall. The one people whisper about. The one that has goneunlived in for years. Sometimes a few hearty souls creep in, it is said, to see what treasures or secrets they can find. Most find nothing—just an empty old house. Some return shaken. A few don’t return at all.

You’ve seen this house before. If not in this town, then in some other. You’ve heard the rumors—and if you haven’t, well, someday they’ll find you.

What happens to a house when it sits alone for so many long years? What jealousies and hatreds does it quietly nurture? What whispers echo through its empty hallways? What waits, crouched within its dark rooms, hungering for the return of life?

The Darkest House is a horror mega-adventure designed to be woven into the RPG you're running now, no matter what game or setting you're playing. In fact, it’s made for your existing campaign, because it really shines when you play it with characters and a party that have already established their history, backstories, bonds, and ideals. It tests and challenges those elements, and builds its horror upon what it uncovers. Your PCs and your campaign will be richer, deeper, and more cohesively bonded after experiencing the Darkest House.

The Darkest House is also an entirely new type of product. Think of it like an RPG book reimagined to make the most of the online environment. Every image and map is conveniently shareable and downloadable. Each encounter is formatted to your screen, giving you everything you need in a single view. Text for sharing with the players is easily copied with a single click. A rich network of hyperlinks makes navigation simple and intuitive. The Darkest House is as easy on the GM as the house itself is challenging to the PCs.

Download a free preview of The Darkest House from the Kickstarter to see what we mean. It really is something new, and we think you’ll be amazed.

The Darkest House is on Kickstarter now. Check it out—and hurry! The Kickstarter ends this week. There’s exclusive content available only through the Kickstarter, so back it now!

Journey to the Edge of the Sun!
over 3 years ago – Sun, Jan 24, 2021 at 01:17:58 AM

We hope you’re ready to reach the edge of the Sun, because it has reached us! That is to say, shortly after the holiday break Edge of the Sun reached our US warehouse. It’s been in transit to our UK and Australia warehouses, but is reaching them right about now.

Which means we’re ready to start shipping it to you!

A real live copy of Edge of the Sun, all set for its beauty shot in our photobooth!
And here's a look inside this gorgeous book.

Edge of the Sun is a standout book—it’ll take your Numenera campaign to some really exciting places. The Engine of the Gods, detailed in the book, is almost certainly the greatest work of the prior worlds—a literally planet-sized project. (Ever wonder where Mercury went?) It’s fiercely hostile to human life, but it can nonetheless be visited—physically, or virtually from Earth via augmechs. Its many mysteries, creatures, and locations await discovery—along with secrets that might portend the end of the Ninth World. In fact, if you were looking for a really epic adventure to form the capstone of a solid Numenera campaign, “The Sun Doth Move,” one of two adventures in the book, would fit the bill nicely. Or you can run any number of less portentous adventures, including “Waking the Mega” or general exploration using the Engine Map Generator.

Check your email, and if Edge of the Sun is among your rewards, in print or PDF, you’ll have received a notification that it’s time to redeem your reward. Log into the MCG Shop and go to Coupons (under My Account), to claim your copy.

This book is so cool and different—be sure to dig in as soon as you receive it. If you like what you see, why not write a quick review, or share your thoughts online? Preorders are open now, and it would be great to spread the word about this unique product.

Ptolus is coming!

Speaking of preorders: Ptolus: Monte Cook's City by the Spire comes out in just a few months, and preorders are now open. This incredible fantasy setting is one of Monte’s masterworks, and one of the most incredible fantasy gaming products ever. If you missed the Kickstarter, this is your chance to get an exclusive preorder deal.

Edge of the Sun Is on Press; Bruce is Breaking the Horizon
over 3 years ago – Sat, Dec 05, 2020 at 11:52:28 AM

Edge of the Sun is on press, and Bruce has some insights into Break the Horizon. More in a sec, but first:

Heroes of the Cypher System!

The Heroes of the Cypher System Kickstarter campaign is about to enter its final week, and things are beginning to heat up. Just this week we’ve announced a stunning new playmat (inspired by the huge, beautiful Numenera playmat you funded in this campaign), a massive upgrade to the Cypher System Creator program, and a big expansion of playtest availability. We have another cool announcement happening today. And we’re closing in on a new GM Intrusion Deck, our next stretch goal!

Check out this beautiful playmat!

But those are just the extras. At the center of the campaign, of course, are heroes. Superheroes, and real-world heroes. We could all use a bit more heroism in our lives these days, right?

Check out Heroes of the Cypher System. And hurry—the campaign ends soon!

Edge of the Sun Is on Press

Edge of the Sun is the next reward for this campaign, and it’s not far off! The book went to press last week, and we expect it to reach our warehouses immediately following the holidays. (The truck may well be waiting in the parking lot when we show up for work on January 4th!) We’ll begin fulfillment of this title in early January.

This book is super innovative, filled with mind-bending ideas, awe-inspiring locations, and new game elements you can use in any Numenera campaign. It will take your adventures to cool new locations (well, in some cases, very hot locations) and in cool new directions. We showed off a bunch of art in the last update. Here’s another piece—check out the last update for more!

Exploring weird new places--it's what Numenera is all about!

Breaking the Horizon

Bruce is working on Break the Horizon, and this week he shared his outline with the rest of the team. Here’s an overview of what he has in mind.

Part 1 is tentatively titled Roaming the World. Its half-a-dozen-ish chapters will be interspersed with in-world advice from The Safe Wayfarer Travel Guide, and cover vehicles, mounts, equipment, remnants of prior-world travel methods, and general advice on traveling through the unpredictable and often dangerous wilds of the Ninth World. It will also contain an index of all the travel options presented in every Numenera title to date. For example, you can easily look up  the invisible corridors that lace the Ninth World’s vast ocean.

Bruce is calling Part 2 Strangers on the Path, and it’s a bestiary of new creatures and NPCs one might commonly encounter in Ninth World travels.

Part 3 is penciled in as Where the Synth Meets the Road. Here we find hazards and encounters, travel-oriented GM intrusions, and complete adventures that focus on, or are easily integrated into, travels in the Ninth World.

Break the Horizon is many months away from release, but it’s already looking great!

Thanks for supporting this project and MCG!

Let’s Go to the Edge of the Sun
over 3 years ago – Sat, Nov 14, 2020 at 11:28:35 PM

Edge of the Sun is going on press soon! This book won’t be headed your way until January, but with the holidays coming up we needed to get it wrapped at our end this month. Bruce has really knocked this one out of the park, and we think you’ll be amazed when you get it.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll see when you get to the Edge of the Sun:

We Can All Use a Few More Heroes These Days

When things are at their worst, the best among us rises to the fore. When disaster strikes or menace looms, they don’t run from the danger, they run toward it. Whether they claim supernatural abilities or just plain courage, there's a single word that describes such people:

In a world that could use a few heroes now more than ever, you can now join their ranks—using the flexible TTRPG mechanics of the Cypher System.

Imagine, for a moment, that you find yourself imbued with powers well beyond those of mere mortals. With great might, you leap into dark and daunting dangers. You stand before the forces of injustice with confidence. You slip the grasp of gravity and soar. You Claim the Sky itself.

But what about on the other end of the scale, where we’re all a bit more earth-bound? We can still be heroes. Saving lives amid natural disasters, man-made cataclysms, pandemics, or crises of any sort, we can take on the role of First Responders.

These two new Cypher System sourcebooks focus on heroes of all kinds—and they’re on Kickstarter now, where they’re already racking up heroic stretch goals. Check it out!
